Emergency measures for aloe vera poisoning

Aloe vera is one of the traditional Chinese medicines for purgation and defecation. Aloe is a perennial herb of Liliaceae, with light Orange-red flowers in summer and autumn. There are Cape of Good Hope aloe (produced in Africa), Curacao aloe (produced in South America) and striped aloe (produced in southern provinces and regions of China), which are Poisonous plants in southern China. The whole aloe contains the toxic ingredients aloin and aloin (aloe emodin). Injecting 1.5-4.5 grams into pills and dispersing each time can cause poisoning in excessive amounts.

Excessive consumption can cause nausea, vomiting, dizziness, hemorrhagic gastritis and enteritis, severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, and even dehydration and heart suppression, leading to bradycardia. Pregnant women can also cause miscarriage accidents.
First aid measures
1. Immediately call the "120" emergency center for help;
2. Oral strong green tea or 3% tannic acid solution for gastric lavage;
3. Add 4-5 pieces of egg white and 10 grams of activated carbon for mixing;
4. Replenish fluids and correct electrolyte imbalance;
5. Give 0.5 mg of Atropine subcutaneous injection or morphine for abdominal pain;
6. Pregnant women should not use morphine and can receive progesterone and vitamin E to protect the fetus.
It is strictly prohibited to use aloe vera as a dietary therapy to prevent poisoning accidents.
